Mother’s Care is a project that helps the children to retain in the classrooms. It geared to focus on children who need to be sustained in the path of education by providing scholarships, books, uniforms, shoes, stationery, etc. This is in-fact on-up in the ladder of child’s development. It gives them a hope to complete their studies up to Pre-University level. The mission of this programme is to get through to the children and youth of the marginalized section of Indian Society by ensuring quality education up to college level, irrespective of caste, creed and gender to empower them to lead a respectful and dignified life.
Today MOTHER’S CARE supports 1123 Children from the most disadvantaged communities in 06 states of India in the context of education/learning.
They belong to socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, are children of daily wage laborers, domestic workers, rickshaw pullers, construction workers, manual labors, orphans, especially abled and vulnerable children. They dwell in dismal living spaces. Rural farming communities often rely on seasonal jobs as their monthly revenue is insufficient to support their households. Many of them are intelligent but lack opportunities. To make ends meet, some youngsters are compelled to work. For them, Survival becomes the primary objective, and education takes a back seat.
Surajdev Parahiya belongs to a vulnerable tribe called’ ‘Parahiya tribe’ in Jharkhand, India. He is presently studying in class Xth. He has secured first position in his class in studies and other activities. He is also the first one of his tribe who has been able to speak English. Surajdev had no proper schooling till 3 years ago. He worked hard to be a rank holder in his class. Until the last third generation people of his tribe were hunters and gatherers. They neither had land nor did they had any means of income. Surajdev received support from Mother’s Care past year and this year. He is ambitious about pursuing higher studies and becoming a civil officer. He says “without Mother’s Care support I would not have had uniform, necessary books or stationeries for studies.
