BREAD responded to the emergency created by the unexpected lock down in the country following Covid-19 Pandemic, without even waiting for the lock down to end.
Covid 19 Global Pandemic and it’s first wave hitting India in March 2020 derailed BREAD’s regular and major project Mary’s Meals of feeding children at their place of education as schools remained closed, nevertheless BREAD recognized the need of the hour and charted out two-fold activities during the continuous lockdown.
In the first fold of Emergency Relief distribution BREAD with the help of all the donors ventured out to provide ration kits as an immediate relief to many areas in the three states of Northern India (Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana) which benefitted 44914 families.
BREAD, assessing the need of the hour and with the support of MARY’S MEALS INTERNATIONAL, was able to keep up the promise of supporting 39533 beneficiary children and their families by providing dry ration kit of 10kg Rice + 2 kg Lentil along with a bar of soap each, which not only ensured the beneficiary families with their children getting a proportion of their daily nutritional needs but also each round of distribution was a huge relief for 2-3 months’ period.
