Education is a fundamental right of every child, yet for many underprivileged communities, access to quality schooling remains an unattainable dream. The School Improvement (SI) Programme by BREAD is a pioneering initiative aimed at addressing these disparities by equipping schools with the infrastructure and facilities necessary to create a supportive and holistic learning environment.
The commercialisation of education has widened the gap between privileged and underprivileged students. While affluent children benefit from access to well-resourced schools, rural and disadvantaged areas are often left behind, with schools lacking even basic amenities essential for effective learning. Recognising this inequity, BREAD’s School Improvement (SI) Programme focuses on enhancing the infrastructure of schools dedicated to educating underprivileged children, ensuring they are equipped to thrive academically and personally.
The School Improvement Programme prioritises fulfilling the infrastructural needs of schools, enabling a nurturing environment for the holistic development of children. This includes initiatives ranging from building classrooms and sanitation facilities to installing renewable energy systems and constructing assembly stages.
